The Approach - Tropical Storm Ana Approaches the Eastern Coast

This is supposed to be a light hurricane season this year.

But it's always worth keeping on these storms. Ana is due to hit Puerto Rico by Tuesday, according to estimates. It isn't thought that is will threaten oil and natural gas platforms and refineries along the seacoast or disprupt the cotton and orange crops.

But, you never know.

Forecasters say Tropical Storm Ana has formed over the Atlantic and could strengthen as it heads toward the Leeward Islands.

The National Hurricane Center says Ana could trigger a tropical storm watch for parts of the Leeward Islands later Saturday. It could be approaching the islands by Monday.

Ana, the first named storm of the Atlantic season, could slowly strengthen in the next couple of days as it moves to the west at 16 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Guillermo was swirling in the Pacific as a Category 3 storm. Winds were near 115 mph as the hurricane moved to the west-northwest at 16 mph. It was about 1,385 miles west of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula early Saturday morning.

The first tropical depression in the Atlantic for 2009 formed on Friday May 29, 2009 and It looked pretty solid and was thought to become the first Tropical Storm of the year. 2009 was predicted to be a rather mild Hurricane Season, but the winds are flowing and it looks pretty healthy after all. The first Tropical Storm will be Tropical Storm Ana and if it becomes Hurricane Ana, which is potentially likely, it will arrive right on time. June first is the official start of the Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season.

According to TerraDaily; "At 1500 GMT the depression was located about 500 km (311 miles) south of Providence, Rhode Island or 1,020 kilometers (634 miles) southeastern of Halifax, Nova Scotia"

And since the endure experts think this is going to become a Tropical Storm it will be the beginning one and usher in the 2009 time of year, right on time. Guillermo was expected to weaken Saturday and Sunday as it moves over cooler waters.

It is aiming mostly at this area as well and is planned to escalate into a Category 2 hurricane with 100 mph winds within five days. At that point in time, it should be near Puerto Rico, the National Hurricane Center says.

Expect this system to become Tropical Storm Bill perhaps later today.
